Dearest Mommy,
Just a little note to let you know that I miss you terribly, but I am having so much fun here! I met someone who knows you, who goes by the name of ^Bug^. Even though she is a kitty, I really like her! She took me by the wing and told me to wait with her until you come to see us! She is the friskiest kitty I have ever seen! She says she used to live with you and she knew I was coming Mom! She was waiting right as I crossed over this beautiful bridge! She told me that you would be very upset 'cause I was gone now, but that you would know that I was with her! You were the bestest mommy any doggie could ever have and I know that I was so lucky to have found you! What happened was not your fault, so don't feel you let me down. I am having a great time here! This big man called God whispered in my ear and said "Let's go Nikki"! I had to go with him Mom, but I will wait for you right here with ^Bug^! You don't have to hurry or nothing either, 'cause we will be just fine here together! Well I gotta go chase some more butterflies now Mom, that is ^Bug's^ favorite game, but I wanted you to know that I love you very much and always will! ^Bug^ says to tell you she loves you very much too and we will see you when you cross this bridge... I love you mommy!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This tribute was made in loving memory of my dear friend Jill's newest angel, ^Nikki^. It is my hope to offer some comfort to sweet Jill in her time of mourning. Nothing I say or do can come close to making up for the loss of dear ^Nikki^, but it's my wish to let her know that she is loved and that ^Nikki^ will always be with her in her heart!
